Words of Encouragement For Hard Times

Perseverance Podcast

I stopped by at the Professor of Perseverance podcast with Dr. James Perdue. It is a show to inspire you to face your life challenges and live life to the fullest. We all need words of encouragement for hard times so I hope you find some motivation from listening to it. This is my second interview after my first one on Straight Talk with Dean & Marc. We began with a brief overview of the book and the memories from my life journey that inspired it.

We talked about the deep meaning behind the subtitle “Accept & Embrace It All.” I was reminded of my oldest daughter who read the book in one night and I asked her what her favorite chapter was. She said “Mom, honestly the end.” The end was about embracing and accepting that the outcome may not always be the outcome you want in life. The host also brought up the point that we don’t have to always love what is going on in our life but we do need to accept it so we can start with the healing process and move forward.

Finding Inner Strength

The host asked about where I get my inner power from and I talked about the 3 main people in my life who were there to support me from an early age after being abandoned by my parents. I am sure if you look back on your life you can remember people who God sent to support you and provide words of encouragement for hard times. For me it was my school teacher, adopted dad and godmother.

The first was my elementary school resource teacher who never gave up on me at an early age. Age 6 was a very crucial period of my life and I shut down for years. My resource teacher encouraged me to never give up on myself. I did have a mental disability but it was misdiagnosed. This lead to a lot of bullying that I experienced through my early years.

The second was my adopted dad who supported me through the scripture. That got into my spirit and I believed in a higher power that loves me. The scriptures of the Bible gave me words of encouragement for hard times when I felt alone. Throughout the years I had to go through these struggles and obstacles to understand what type of person that I am. This essence that I hold. We are all uniquely made different and we don’t always take the time to know our strengths, our essence and what we are built on. I had to find my voice and that was total liberation and peace.

The third was my godmother. I spoke at a women’s conference and this lady came into my life who embraced me as a motherly figure. If it wasn’t for this lady who sponsored my education, I would not have gotten my first Bachelors Degree. So at one point in your life a support system will come, you just need to be patient and never lose hope. Think about all the people in your life who God has sent to support you and get you to where you need to be today. Sometimes you may not even be aware. More people will be sent in the future to help you on your journey.

“Don’t give up, Don’t give in!”

There were a lot of struggles and obstacles that I had been through and felt like I was alone, or felt like no one had possibly been through what I had been through and that is just not true. No matter what you are going through just know that help will come, you just have to take the first step. Don’t feel like you have to give up or you have to give in because that’s not an option. Once you understand that giving up is not an option, you will endure to the end. And stay true to yourself.

“The race is not given to the swift nor to the strong but the one that endureth to the end.
