Embracing the Challenge of Life

The Women of Valor Conference

The Women of Valor Conference was an empowerment conference in Easton MD to encourage women to find the courage and strength that the Lord has given us. It was an honor for me to be invited as one of the main speakers to share my journey, empower and inspire others who are facing the challenge of life today.

“Manifest the strength and courage God empowered you with.”

I remembered my adopted dad who started my foundation of prayer. He used to tell me “Kimmy, if you don’t stand for something you will fall for anything.” But I never realized how important that quote was throughout my entire life. We as women have always found ourselves in circumstances in which we have to take a stand. Taking a stand requires the strength and courage that only God can provide. Even though I came from an unjust and dishonest society, I still always stood for the truth and transparency. I knew that from an early age, God will continue to manifest the strength and courage for me to continue my journey to live a purpose driven life. That is why I felt inspired to share my journey with the world. I did not want to be pitied or seen as a victim. I want to be seen as a true overcomer through the hands of God.

The Challenge of Life

I boldly confronted the harsh realities of our society, from the child abuse to the domestic violence that women around the world experience. I shared my experience with these realities that I was exposed to from an early age, as well as the last physical altercation between my parents. I shared my story of being abandoned by my parents and dropped off with my paternal aunt and husband who became my adopted parents. I struggled with relationships and went through these phases of depression, anxiety and trauma.

But God started revealing things to me throughout my career. Understand that if the mother isn’t there, there is still God. If the father isn’t there, there is still God. God started working with me and bringing people into my life to help me.  I had to reflect on my life from the beginning to where I am now and put my whole story on paper to be a testimony that inspires others.

“God will be the mother when you’re motherless, your father when you’re fatherless, your sister when you’re sisterless, your counselor when you can’t get one on the phone! ~ K.I.M

We all have a past with circumstances and situations that were beyond our control. But God is a healer, and He can and will take care of those things. But I still had to seek outside resources to help me. Outside of praying, I had to seek help. I had to sit down with a therapist to revisit my past and reflect on the cycles that kept repeating in my life.

I dealt with domestic violence and unhealthy relationships because I never felt worthy, and God had to touch me and show me the way. I had to accept that I was created beautifully and wonderfully as a gift. That was the beginning of my healing process. So if you stumble, get up! Ask God to help you and give you the strength. This is the season to accept & embrace that God will manifest the strength and courage that will allow you to overcome.

Don't forget to share! =)
