Embracing My Journey of Faith

Embracing Struggle

Speaking of Impact is an empowering and educational show that helps people to recognize their time, talent and treasures as powerful tools that bring joy and fulfillment not only to themselves but to the world around them. During my interview, I share my journey of faith from trauma to triumph. In this episode we talk about the importance of gratitude, why accepting and embracing is vital, how freedom allows you to let go of pain, the power of forgiveness and more. It was truly a privilege to be invited as a guest.

My last interview was on Linda’s Corner. In this episode of Speaking of Impact, we started by talking about gratitude and being thankful for all that we are blessed with. I am grateful for this season in my life and I am grateful for being able to share and enjoy the moment.

The host asked what motivated me to write the book and what it was like writing it.

Having the attitude and personality to inspire people is what motivated me to write the book. The COVID pandemic really opened my eyes to finish things on my mind that I always wanted to complete. I had to first accept the things that happened in my past and I had to learn to embrace them. Once I did that I had to write it in black and white and release it to the world to inspire.

It wasn’t easy. I had a therapist during the time of my writing. I was releasing and going back to some traumatic experiences from my past. Hurtful things that I had to re-live. Disappointing things. Mistakes. I had to overcome those things as my truth and reveal my truth to help others. There are others who are experiencing the same situations and they fill ashamed. They live under turmoil, anxiety and depression because of their past.

My Journey of Faith

The experiences that I had were unique to me but there are other people who have gone through similar things or even worse. What I have learnt is that there is freedom in different capacities and on different levels. This is just how life works, not just for me but for everyone who is going through a journey. I am just glad to be able to share those experiences that I was able to be free of to live a healthier mindset.

“There is freedom on different capacities and different levels”

I told my story of being dropped off by my parents and the traumatic experience that lead up to that. I never got reunited with my biological parents. At 5, It started a foundation of being abandoned and rejected. I built this foundation of trust with my adopted dad who introduced me to a God who he said loved me more than he did. He grounded me in the belief of faith, hope, love and forgiveness.

I spoke about my Christian background and my tragic experience with pedophilia. That experience confused me about what love means. I was not encouraged to share anything that was going on in my life. I was thought that what goes on in the home, stays in the home.  That lead to a pattern of bad choices because of my voice that was shut. I had to have a child at 16 and marry a man who was 11 years older than me.!

“I want people to understand that as long as we have life, that God has a season in our life and there will be an opportunity…”
