Embracing A Positive Outlook on Life

Embracing A Positive Outlook In Life

The Going North Podcast is an informational, inspirational, and motivational podcast where published authors share their life experiences to help you to advance yourself. It is a unique blend of positive humor with positive messages that inspire. It was a pleasure to be able to share my message to help listeners to embrace a more positive outlook in life. In this episode, we talk about life choices and how to deal with negativity in our lives. I also provide listeners with some positive coping techniques that they can apply each and every day.

The Biggest Gift You Can Give..

I started by introducing myself. I am a passionate speaker! I love inspiring anyone who will listen to me give advice about not giving up, not giving in and just hanging in there as much as you can. Through writing my memoir, I have learned that investing in myself was the best gift ever! I have gone from breaking generational curses, to accepting, and embracing my truth. I am now choosing to rebuild my foundation, my self love, my self esteem, and love me so that I can attract that same love that I give myself.

Balancing Motherhood

I am a mother of 4 adult children and one minor. The oldest one will be 34 this year. I am hitting close to 50, but it’s been fun and I have been able to write even more. By investing in myself, I am making the choice to be the best that I can be to mother and love 4 adults while still loving and raising my minor to be the best that she can be in this generation. Years ago, my mentality was to live for them. But I had to learn to live for me first, so that they can get the best version of me in return.

Making Positive Life Choices

I use the term “Choices” alot because everyone has to make a choice. I made a choice that repeated cycles had to stop. Toxic relationships, unhealthy relationships, and impulsive decisions had to stop! My first process to freedom was when I put my whole story on paper and wrote my book because each chapter freed me. I had to go through that process of reliving each chapter and accepting it all.

I used to carry a whole lot of guilt and shame. I was judging myself and felt responsible for other people’s decisions. Eventually, I had to accept that I was not responsible for the behavior and actions of others, I am only responsible for what I do in return and how I respond. So I just like to encourage and let people know that you are not responsible for how other people behave.

Positive Coping Techniques

I consistently work on my spirituality. Throughout the day, I would have meditation times to talk to God. I love music, my Amazon music list keeps growing from R&B to country, to gospel, to hymns. That is my support to get me into a positive state of mind and a positive outlook on life. I don’t surround myself with negative people who will damage my mentality. I surround myself with the positive and avoid situations that will disrupt my peace. I consistently work on myself every single day.

My Memoir

What was the hardest part of writing this memoir?

To be honest, the most challenging part was to be courageous enough to write it, publish it, and still live in my hometown, without running. I would remember my adopted dad who would say that, “If you don’t stand for something you would fall for anything.” So I stood, and I’m still standing. It’s not easy, but i’m still standing.

If your memoir was a food what would it be?

I think it would be a fruit probably. A kiwi. Just an authentic type of fruit that can’t be replaced by any other.

The host asked, If you were to wake up tomorrow and you were 25 again, what advice would you give to yourself?

It’s okay to wait!! It’s okay to wait… just take your time..

Don't forget to share! =)
